THE OLIVE MILL THAT MADE HISTORY

  1. May, 1st 1965

    The Origins

    Giancarlo’s parents, Stefano and Lina Bonamini get married and decide to combine together their skills: Lina's agricultural activity merges with Stefano's artisanal activity, who decides to buy an olive mill from his father’s cousin. This is how the Frantoio Bonamini reality is born.

  2. June, 20th 1989

    Giancarlo Bonamini arrival

    After his agricultural graduation, Giancarlo Bonamini flanks his father in the menagement of the olive mill and the agricultural activity. He registers for VAT and starts to handle the production of extra virgin olive oil.

  3. 1993

    The first Bonamini Signed Bottle

    During an event in San Briccio (Lavagno), for the first time ever an olive oil cruet with Frantoio Bonamini business card is presented: a small thing which marks the beginning of the brand.

  4. 1995

    Frantoio Bonamini is born

    Without any contacts with suppliers or customers, Giancarlo Bonamini starts to bottle extra virgin olive oil branded like Frantoio Bonamini. The first 900 bottles are distribute as samples to make people know the quality of Bonamini olive oil and little by little the firm starts to grow.

  5. 1999

    The Olive Mill Expands

    A very generous olive harvest, the increase of the extra virgin olive oil production and the olive mill limited space really test the business growth. An enlargement is very needed.

  6. 2000

    The New Headquarters

    Giancarlo Bonamini bet on innovation and quality and this is how the new Frantoio Bonamini headquarters, equipped with a modern continuous plant, is born, getting over the old saying “this is how we’ve always done”.

  7. 2001

    Certified Quality EVO Oil

    Frantoio Bonamini gladly greet the P.D.O. Veneto Valpolicella approval. In the same year, Giancarlo and Sabrina get married, giving birth to a new collaboration which will bring the olive mill to new successes. 2001 is also the first olive oil harvest using only the modern olive mill.

  8. 2010

    Sustainability and Innovation

    The attention to sustainability get stronger reducing the production impact, limiting the wastes and giving value to each part of the fruit: the pit, the pulp, the skin. This allows Bonamini to produce high quality italian extra virgin olive oil in full respect of the environment.

  9. 2020

    4.0 Olive Mill

    Frantoio Bonamini keeps evolving, opting for the 4.0 technologies to carefully supervise all the different steps of the production of extravirgin olive oil.

  10. 2024

    Incessant Innovation

    The placement of a new olive washing and drying system and of a temperature-controlled knife crusher: avantgarde technologies which guarantee us the extraction of an excellent extra virgin olive oil.

  11. 2025

    Quality Without Compromise

    New vertical malaxig units to reduce the contact between the olive paste and the oxygen are what’s going to further improve the quality of the final product. Another step forward for Frantoio Bonamini, now leader in high quality extra virgin olive oil production.

An olive oil love story

Frantoio Bonamini is an excellence emblem in the Italian extra virgin olive oil production, able to combine the quality of the product with the deep passion for the territory and the local traditions. Giancarlo and Sabrina Sartorari Bonamini, brave millers, lead this 60 years old olive mill with heart, enhancing the more than 5.200 olive trees cultivated on 21 hectares, reaching a production of 270.000 bottles per year, admired in Italy as well as abroad.

Our production

The production includes P.D.O Veneto Valpolicella extra virgin olive oil, produced with Grignano and Favarol refined olive types, Organic olive oil and specialty oils such as Monocultivar Grignano and Campo di Casa. In addition to extra virgin olive oil, Frantoio Bonamini offers natural infused olive oils, spreads, vegetable in oil and a sustainable cosmetic line. All the products are designed and crafted in the Illasi Valley (Verona), one of the most renowned oil districts in Italy.

TRADITION, COURAGE AND QUALITY SINCE 1965

A legacy handed down from the family

Frantoio Bonamini is the result of a story of bravery and dedication which find its roots in the year 1965 when Stefano and Lina moved permanently in their current home in Santa Giustina, Illasi. Stefano Bonamini, who until that moment was a thresher, starts to grow his wife’s vineyards and in the meantime also takes over his uncle’s olive mill, facing with courage a completely new business activity. Sixty years ago, the first founders started this farm from almost nothing, moved from passion and from a very clear mission: producing high quality extra virgin olive oil. Always respecting and deeply loving the territory. Since then, every single drop of Bonamini olive oil tells a story of a tradition which has never lost sight of excellence.
